After a thorough consultation, the homeowner chose 0.040" aluminum standing-seam metal for its complete corrosion immunity, 50+ year lifespan, and distinctive matte black architectural statement. We sourced Drexel Metals 1.75" standing-seam panels in their Matte Black Kynar 500 PVDF finish — a cool-roof-rated finish backed by a 35-year color warranty. The project required complete tear-off of the existing shingles and 1x4 purlin furring, followed by installation of 15 lb self-adhered Grip-Rite high-temperature underlayment specifically rated for metal roofs.
